The F1 season 2020 already looks strange with, among others, the Grand Prix of Styria, Algarve and Eifel, but there will probably be some more strange names in a few weeks time. That's when Michael Masi wants to have the calendar announced.

To Sky Sports, the FIA's race director responded to persistent rumours that Jerez and Istanbul are being added to the calendar. He did not want to confirm these races in so many words, but it is clear that something special is coming.

Not just surprises

"Within a week or two, we should be able to complete the calendar together with Formula 1. This will fill the period after Imola in November and December. There might be some surprises in between and also something we're already used to".

So we talked about those surprises and the famous names Masi is talking about are probably Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. Vietnam and China haven't been officially cancelled yet either, but the expectation is that Jerez and Istanbul will replace those races.
