Expectations at Red Bull Racing were high for the Austrian Grand Prix. However, Max Verstappen's race was quickly over, due to an electrical problem with his RB16.

It looked good for Max Verstappen at the Austrian Grand Prix. The Dutchman drove comfortably in second place and also had a tactical advantage with his medium tyres. In lap 12 the RB16 of Verstappen suddenly stopped and he had to park his car permanently in the garage.

The Red Bull Racing team immediately went to investigate in order to identify the problem. "Max's car was suffering from electrical problems, but we are still investigating it. In any case, it is very frustrating," said Christian Horner in conversation with Sky Sports F1.

The grid penalty of Hamilton

Prospects for Verstappen also looked good due to the grid penalty given to Lewis Hamilton. The Briton received a five-place grid penalty this morning, following a protest filed by Red Bull Racing. According to Horner, they could only file a complaint in the early hours.

"The pictures of the promoter didn't appear until this morning. They weren't available to the FIA yesterday and that's why they didn't see them. We've therefore asked them to take a look at them," explained Horner. The grid penalty for Red Bull Racing alone didn't have much effect on the outcome of the race.
