Barrichello doesn't understand why Sainz has already announced his plans

Carlos Sainz has yet to start a 'whole' season with McLaren, but already knows that he will be driving for another team next year. According to several former drivers this creates tension within a team and according to Rubens Barrichello it can also cause extra stress in the driver's own head.

The Brazilian therefore doesn't understand very well why Ferrari and Sainz have made a decision so early on, and certainly not why they have already made it known to the world. The Spaniard will therefore feel less at home with McLaren in the coming months.

"I think it's crazy that you announce all your plans for the future, while you still have a year to go", says Barrichello to Motorsport.com. "That's not easy in your head to deal with. It's very hard to be at work somewhere when you don't feel like you belong there anymore".

On the other hand, it's not an insurmountable problem, because Barrichello did have methods during his own career that allowed him to close himself off. "Meditation has always worked well for me. When you're working on your future, it brings with it a certain tension. By meditating, you can keep living in the present."
