When Liberty Media took over Formula 1 in 2016, they pulled together three main leaders. CEO and chairman Chase Carey was joined by Ross Brawn, who focuses on the technical aspect while Sean Bratches leads the commercial side of Formula 1. However, this line-up is set to change with F1 saying goodbye to Bratches within the coming week.

According to Motorsport.com, Liberty Media will show Bratches the exit door and it will be announced publically within a week. He has been the commercial director since Liberty Media's launch in 2016.

The former ESPN executive's main focus was to boost the sport's revenue streams. This includes race hosting fees, sponsorship and broadcasting deals. The TV deals are one of the most talked-about off-track parts of Formula 1. Bratches played a key role in retaining the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and ensuring the sport returns to Zandvoort for the first time in many years.

In 2019, Bratches himself hinted that he would like to spend more time with his family as Formula 1 took up too much of his time. Carey then said conversations were behind held, but no decision had yet been made. Motorsport.com now knows that Bratches will resign, forcing Formula 1 to look for a new commercial director.
