Unlike last year the Formula 1 grid hasn't changed much over the winter break, but the same can't be said about the lower class Formula 2. Amoung others, Nicholas Latifi (to Williams F1) is leaving and Nyck de Vries has moved to Mercedes Formula E team. Ahead of the 2020 F2 season start in Bahrain, Dutch team MP Motorsport have announced their first driver.

Brazilian Felipe Drugovich will make his debut in Formula 2 racing after impressing his new team boss during testing in Abu Dhabi. Drugovich drove more than a thousand kilometres and eventually managed to record the tenth fastest time. Boss Sander Dorsman is impressed.

“Felipe did an excellent job during his tests for us and improved himself during every session. The moment we had to put the signature under the contract, we didn't hesitate for a second. He has been on our radar since his winning performance in lower classes and it is great to see that he is now part of our team," the boss said.

Last year wasn't a vintage season for the 19-year-old as he had to settle for a 16th place finish in the world championship with Carlin. The Brazilian has previously found success in the Spanish Formula 3 Championship and the MRF Challenge Formula 2000.
