Following Daniel Ricciardo's departure from Red Bull at the end of the 2018 season, he believes his time with Renault has made him a "better driver" despite having over 100 less points.

It's worth pointing out that Red Bull's machinery is and was more competitive than anything Renault have made in recent years; hence the significant points difference.

Ricciardo has scored 38 points this season for the French team in his first season driving the black and yellow car, with the latest four points being scored in Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix, where the Aussie driver finished in P8.

Despite an up-and-down first season with Renault, Ricciardo is adamant that the experience has made him a better driver, overall: "I learned more from Formula 1 cars by switching to Renault and that is a positive in itself," Ricciardo said to AS.com.

"At Red Bull, I relied completely on the brakes and I could make a difference with that, but Renault taught me that every car is different and that I can only learn more from it. I am now a better driver than (I was) at Red Bull."
