Auto Bild: 'Bottas will stay with Mercedes, Ocon will go to Renault'

Auto Bild are reporting that Esteban Ocon has signed with Renault for the 2020 season and that Valtteri Bottas is set to stay at Mercedes. If these rumors are true, Renault will have a Frenchman racing for the French team.

There has been much speculation about the 2020 driver line up. Esteban Ocon is set to return to a racing Formula 1 seat and has been rumored to be driving for Renault.

This means that Mercedes will stay with their current driver line up for the 2020 season. Nico Hulkenberg will, therefore, be left without a seat at the team he is currently at.

However, Haas have been looking for a reliable driver capable of scoring points for the team and maybe he could replace Romain Grosjean at Haas and team up with his good friend Kevin Magnussen!

Jacques Villeneuve believes that the decision to stick with Bottas was for one simple reason, "Mercedes is not waiting for a duel within the team between Hamilton and Ocon."

Bottas is the perfect number two driver and will not cause much tension and competition within the team.

It will be interesting to see if these rumors are true and an official announcement regarding the driver line up's is due soon.
