Lewis Hamilton has said that he wants his second half of the Formula 1 season to be “stronger than the first half” after going into the summer break with eight wins out of 12.

Hamilton and Mercedes have had one of the best halves of a F1 season as the Brit and Valtteri Bottas secured five one-two finishes in a row up until the Monaco Grand Prix.

The two Mercedes drivers split the first four races between them and then Hamilton continued to win until Red Bull and Max Verstappen claimed victories in Austria and Germany, while the Brit won at Silverstone and in Hungary.

But despite the domination of Mercedes so far, who lead the constructors championship by 150 points from Ferrari, Hamilton is still looking for areas to improve.

He said to the BBC: "These eight wins are obviously exceptional.

"If ever anyone talks down on us, those who had success will know how hard it is to achieve it.

"You still have to deliver week in, week out, there are still two drivers per team.

"I look at those races and I say: 'Eight wins out of 12, there is still some missing. So how did we miss those ones? How were we not perfect on those weekends?'”

The five- time World Champion also said that some of their success had only come down to errors from Ferrari, be it either a driver or team error.

"And also some weekends where Ferrari were quicker and sometimes it was driver or team error that has put them in a position not to win,” he added.

"It just shows how on the edge we all are and you can't take anything for granted.

"I asked my guys [in Mercedes], I said I want everyone to send me an email, be completely straight with me if they think there is anything we can improve on.

"I want the second half to be even stronger than the first half. So please just give us that and I will do the same."
