Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is looking forwards to the prospect of seeing the full potential of the upgraded Ferrari engine at the Canadian Grand Prix.

In Monaco they weren’t able to maximise its use due to power not being the most important factor around the streets of Monte-Carlo.

But the long straights in Montreal will make for a good opportunity for Haas’ drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen to do.

Steiner said (quoted by InsideRacing.com): “The performance of the new engine was very good. There were no complaints.

“Monaco, as we know, is not a track where the power makes a big difference. It’s always good to have it, but it doesn’t make a big difference.

“In Canada, we’ll really see how much better the engine is. We are hoping it’s a good boost and doing what it should be doing.”

Steiner also went on to claim that Haas have the ‘fastest’ car of the midfield teams as they play catch up to McLaren for fourth place in the constructor’s championship behind the top three teams.

"I still think we’ve got the fastest car of the midfield," he added.

"Race pace is ultimately the points-paying factor, we need to focus on that. We’ve seen quite a few races this year where we’ve qualified well then didn’t score any points.

“Everybody’s close together, even fourth place is not far away because if one team has a good result with both cars going, it’s easy to move up to fourth."
