FIA to split Charlie Whiting roles for Bahrain Grand Prix

The FIA has split the role of late race director Charlie Whiting into three ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The long-serving and much-beloved Whiting sadly passed away on the eve of the 2019 season in Melbourne from a pulmonary embolism

Ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the FIA has chosen to split the role into three separate parts with new personnel coming in to fill the positions.

According to Autosport, Michael Masi will return after serving as race director for the Australian Grand Prix however two further positions will now be taken up by new appointments.

Christian Bryll will serve as race starter having worked as F1 event logistics manager previously. Colin Haywood, race control systems manager, will now serve as deputy race director to Masi.
