Toto Wolff puts breakaway rumours in the bin

Toto Wolff has made clear he, nor Lawerence Stroll or Bernie Ecclestone are planning a breakaway formula. This comes after rumours emerged yesterday from Auto Motor und Sport that a breakaway plan was in place.

Auto Motor und Sport revealed that Wolff visited Ecclestone and Racing Point owner Lawerence Stroll at a Swiss ski resort town around one month ago.

At this time, strong concerns were present with the way Liberty Media were handling the sport as the direction they wanted to take Formula 1 wasn't clear.

When asked, the Mercedes boss shut down the rumours.

"Lawrence Stroll invited me to Gstaad and Bernie has a chalet there. Talk of another series is nonsense. We want to fully support Liberty in their formula one campaign," Wolff insisted.
