Alfa Romeo team principal Fred Vasseur is content with the points his team have collected in Australia, ah he thinks it should be a foundation for the team to score more points as they chase the best-of-the-rest title.

Kimi Raikkonen was the only of the two Alfa drivers to qualify in the top 10, as the Finn put his C38 in P9 at the start. Despite an issue where his visor tear-off got stuck in the brakes, he brought it home in P8, giving Alfa four points in their first race under that name.

“For the first race of the season, it was an okay race,” Vasseur told Crash.net.

“We had some small issues which we could not have anticipated and both drivers put up a good fight.

“We are returning home with four points, which is a positive. To start the season with one car in the top ten is a good achievement and we will push hard to score some more points at the next Grand Prix in Bahrain.”

Antonio Giovinazzi couldn't bring home any points on his return to Formula 1, as the Italian eventually finished 15th.
