A week and a half ago, Lewis Hamilton opened up about struggling with depression in the past. Joe Levenson, who works for mental health organisation Mind commented on Hamilton's story to Autosport.

Levenson grateful for Hamilton

Speaking to The Times, the seven-time world champion revealed how he used to struggle with depression. He said this was because he was bullied and had no one to talk to.
Levenson believes Hamilton speaking up leads to a positive outcome: "We are grateful to Lewis Hamilton for being so open and sharing his experience with depression, and the impact that racism has had on him over many years. Speaking up and speaking out can help to normalise conversations and challenge the stigma that so often surrounds mental health."
Levenson continued with saying that when public figures open up about their mental health, it can have a huge impact. He then highlighted that Mind's research found that as a result of publicly speaking up, one in five people started a conversation about their mental health as well.
