It was a mixed race for Jean-Eric Vergne as he finished second in the Saudi Arabain ePrix but the Frenchman led the race and could’ve won had he not received a penalty.

Vergne was punished for exceeding the maximum power allowed and was forced to make a drive through and the raining champion obviously felt that’s what cost him as he feels he had the fastest car.

"Our car was clearly the fastest, well done to Da Costa and BMW, they did not steal their success." Said Vergne at the finish of the event.

"This was our first race with DS and our car was incredibly competitive. We made a small mistake, but it's encouraging for the future."

Vergne lost the lead to António Félix da Costa with Jérôme d'Ambrosio finishing third but he was quick to look towards the positives and the next race.

“The race was really nice, there were a lot of overtaking in different parts of the circuit." Said Vergne.

“We went into the unknown with this GEN2 and the show is finally at the rendezvous, especially with this Attack Mode, which brings a new strategic dimension.

“I am happy with our performance and look forward to being in Marrakech."
