The drivers have arrived at the Shanghai International Circuit today for be present for their media duties. More questions were asked rather than answered about the 2024 silly season after Fernando Alonso's extension by Aston Martin. Here is everything that happened on Day -1 in China.

Silly season updates from Shanghai

After another domino has fallen, thanks to Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin coming to an agreement, drivers once again had to report on how their negotions are ongoing. At today's press conference, multiple drivers were asked about the Spaniards career, including Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris.

Alonso's extension might have the biggest impact on Carlos Sainz. To Sky Sports, the Spaniard has declared that the 'best options are still open' for him. However, he also said later that it will take some time until he can announce something, but he hopes to finalise a deal "sooner rather than later".

Max Verstappen also opened up about what he wants Red Bull to have in order for him to stay at the Austrian team. The Dutchman wants peace within the team, and a car capable of competing at the highest level.

Verstappen's current teammate, Sergio Perez also expects to hear back soon about where he will race the upcoming season. "I expect to know my future in the coming weeks because everything is moving quite fast. So I think it's important not to wait for too long," said the Mexican in Shanghai.

At Red Bull's sister team, Visa Cash App RB, Daniel Ricciardo also hopes to finally kick start his 2024 campaign. After the Australian was tipped to become Perez's replacement, now news suggest he is on his way out after poor performances so far this year.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Adrian Newey was seen in Italy, near Maranello. However, Formula Passion now reports those were just false alarms, as the Briton was not there to meet Ferrari's representatives.
