Leclerc sees opportunity: 'That will be the gamechanger for rest of season'

Charles Leclerc does not think that will be the case in Miami, his team will be fast enough to challenge for P1. While Ferrari occasionally show it has built a fast car, for now it is not yet good enough to really challenge Red Bull.

"I think it's going to be in line with what we have seen so far," the Monegasque began. "We'll be working, obviously, on trying to understand what was going on on the hard today to try and fix that and hopefully don't have that again sometimes in the season. But I don't know."

Leclerc continued: "It also depends on whoever is bringing upgrades there. We probably won't. So we'll have to wait a bit longer. And I think that is going to be the game changer for the rest of the season. The upgrades are going to be super important to see how the season will develop after that."

At the moment, Ferrari is not in a bad position in the championship. The Scuderia is 'the best of the rest' so far, with third place in the drivers' championship for Leclerc and fourth place for Carlos Sainz.

Leclerc knows Ferrari's weak spot

Still, Ferrari wants more and that can only happen if the car's weaknesses are fixed. Leclerc says Ferrari does already know its own weaknesses: "The slow speed, especially this weekend [in China], and in general haven't been our strength since the beginning of the season. So we'll have to work on that and then a little bit everywhere. Normally when you put upgrades, it's just to gain a little bit everywhere. But obviously the focus is a bit more on the low speed at the moment."
