Jos Verstappen ended his debut in the British rally championship with eighth place at the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages. It was only the first time the father of F1 champion Max had driven a rally on gravel. Jos told Verstappen.com that he enjoyed the new challenge.

Verstappen Sr. with his co-pilot Renaud Jamoul previously tested their Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 car on sand in the south of France. "We liked that so much that we started looking for a nice place for a rally on gravel. Hence we did the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages," Jos told us. "I enjoyed it, but at the same time it was really difficult."

Difficult conditions for Verstappen

A complicating factor for Verstappen was that it was hugely foggy in the first stages of the day, but thanks to Jampoul's notes, he was still able to pick up speed. "It was a completely new challenge and totally different from what I am used to so far. We went for it. It was top," Jos said.

Verstappen has only relatively recently started driving rallies. In recent seasons, the Dutchman has become a very strong competitor in the Belgian championship. So in Wales, Verstappen Sr. made his debut in the British championship.
