Zak Brown threw caution to the wind this week. The McLaren CEO said he wants to ban situations where one owner has two teams in Formula 1. He did not mention Red Bull's name once, but everyone understands that Brown was referring to Red Bull Racing and Visa Cash App RB.

A key criticism of Brown is that it is very possible that VCARB will take advantage of their sister team's knowledge and bring a copy of the RB20 to the track. Mike Krack, Aston Martin's team boss, understands that F1 teams for next season have looked emphatically at last year's Red Bulls anyway and have started building on them for their own concepts.

Krack sees few other options

"I think inevitably when you have a team that's doing as well as Red Bull have done since 2022, it's inevitable that there will be some kind of convergence on their solutions. I think with the regulations that we have now, it is not particularly easy to have cars that are visually very different," the Luxembourger told GPblog and others.

However, there is a difference between trying to copy a car and having the ability to share all the knowledge. With two single-owner teams, the latter is potentially possible at Red Bull.

"Formula 1 is a constructor championship, and the FIA has a clear set of regulations, especially Article 17 mandates clearly what you are allowed to do, what you are not allowed to do. And it is the responsibility of the FIA to make sure that the cars are all done and designed with the IP of the respective constructor, and we have to trust the FIA in that regard. We cannot just speculate and accuse without having any facts. This is down to the FIA," Krack concluded.
