Week of truth for René Lammers: Does an F1 seat beckon?

Important days are coming for son of former Formula1 driver Jan Lammers: René Lammers. The Dutchman is in the Ferrari Academy selection week with five other talents. Of the total of six talents, one will be crowned the Italian constructor's greatest talent. That one will then be prepared in Ferrari's academy, with opportunities to progress to the premier class of motorsport.

René Lammers and consorts are driving a scouting programme from Ferrari over the next few days. On Tuesday afternoon, the talents arrived at the Italian Scuderia's headquarters. The youngsters were welcomed by, among others, the face behind the Ferrari Driver Academy: Marco Matassa.

What does Ferrari's programme look like?

Lammers and his companions are in Italy to see which driver, out of six, will be crowned the greatest talent. Among other things, they look at physical skills, but also attitude towards media parties, for example. Racing simulations in Formula 4 cars will also be done. Father Jan previously spoke to GPblog about his son in a Formula 4 car.

On Thursday, the six talents will be given a tour of the Circuit Fiorano. On Saturday and Sunday, the youngsters will drive a Formula 4 car on the sim. When the training camp is over, it will be announced which Ferrari talent may officially join the Ferrari Academy.
