Red Bull driver, soon-to-be Renault driver, Daniel Ricciardo says that the French side's progress with its Spec C engine has boosted his confidence ahead of his move next season.

Ricciardo will be joining Nico Hulkenberg at the former world champions for next season after over a decade at Red Bull.

Following recent tests of the new Spec C V6 being ran out in Singapore and Monza, the Aussie driver is feeling even more optimistic about his future with Renault.

"Since the time we use the Renault engine, there have been some updates that have worked and others that have not worked, that's the reality," Ricciardo said to F1Only.fr.

"Of course, those that do not work can be demoralizing or frustrating, especially if you expect something more than what you get. Now this is their last step, positive and concrete, it's encouraging for the last part of this year, but also for my future. It's a nice little extra."

Ricciardo will officially join Renault after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which is the last race of the 2018 Formula One calendar.
