With rumours of Daniil Kvyat making a comeback to Formula One next season, his former teammate Carlos Sainz isn't surprised by that at all, as he knew the Russian would make a return one day.

Ever since his demotion from Red Bull back to Toro Rosso in 2016, Kvyat looked worse and worse every race. At the end of 2017, Toro Rosso decided to axe the Russian and bring in Pierre Gasly to replace him and to finish the 2017-season.

This year, the 24-year-old held himself busy as a simulator-tester for Ferrari, which most of his time being spent at the factory. Toro Rosso are keen to take another flyer on Kvyat, which doesn't surprise his former teammate Carlos Sainz Junior.

"When he was recently got axed from Formula 1, I had a feeling he would come back some day," the Spaniard told Motorsport-Total.

"In whatever category I ever raced him in, he always fought his way back and made up ways to get to the top.

"I think he'll do that again.

"Daniil is one of the best drivers I've ever raced.

"I immediately told my father, that Kvyat guy isn't done in the Formula 1."

We didn't expect Sainz to be this positive about Kvyat, as the Spaniard was a class above the Russian in their period as teammates.
