Fernando Alonso once again finished on the podium in Miami. It was a lonely race for the Spaniard. Alonso showed this by saying on the board radio that he had seen that his teammate Lance Stroll had made a nice overtaking manoeuvre.

After his podium in Miami, Alonso has now finished third four times in five races in 2023. In Miami, Alonso did not have to fight much for that, eventually finishing 21 seconds behind Sergio Perez and seven seconds ahead of George Russell, the two-time world champion. Over the board radio, it was also noted that Alonso's race was not very interesting.

Alonso compliments Stroll over board radio

Over the board radio, Alonso made a nice compliment to his teammate. “Which position is Lance? Great move into turn one,” Alonso told his team during the race. This made it clear that the Spaniard was driving in no man's land and thus watched the screens along the track in Miami.

At the FIA press conference after the race, Alonso was asked about his comment about the on-board radio and how he had noticed it. "I think this circuit we have big TV screens out of some of the slow-speed corners so it was very easy to follow the race on TV. It was a little bit of an unexpected lonely race for us," Alonso replied at the press conference.
