Häkkinen points to De Vries as right choice: 'He is very smart'

Mika Häkkinen has a high opinion of Dutch driver Nyck de Vries. According to the two-time F1 champion, the Alpha Tauri driver comes up with useful feedback for his team after a ride in an F1 car rather than a generic answer.

Häkkinen thinks De Vries is very clever

The Finn sees a clever driver in De Vries and thinks AlphaTauri made the only right choice in placing the Dutchman alongside Yuki Tsunoda in the AT04. In a video on Twitter, the former F1 driver said: "It was a good choice to put Nyck in the team. I think he is a smart guy and can bring a lot of factual information to the team."

Häkkinen thinks that with De Vries, Alpha Tauri have brought in a driver who can be critical of the material: "He will not say, 'It's fun to drive in F1'. Instead, he will say: 'The car is not good enough, this, this and that we need to change'. I think he is smart enough for that."
