Ralf Schumacher thinks it is great that Mick Schumacher will now get a chance as a reserve driver at Mercedes. Moreover, the former Formula 1 driver thinks he is also a good asset for the German racing stable.

It was previously announced that Ferrari and Schumacher would end their partnership and Haas will not continue with the young German from next year either. This opened the door for him to sign a contract with Mercedes. The driver's uncle thinks it is a great opportunity as he now has an experienced team around him. "So he now has two experienced teammates and, for a change, also a team that is happy to have him with the team," Schumacher sneered at Haas at the German arm of Sky Sports.

Win-win situation

The son of the seven-time world champion could put himself on the radar with a reserve role at Mercedes. After all, the same happened this season for Nyck de Vries, who was given a spot at AlphaTauri after a stint at Williams. "I think it's a win-win situation for both Mick and Mercedes. On the one hand because the team now has a driver who can fill in if one of the regular drivers cannot race. And on the other hand, of course, for Mick himself, because he is now in a team where he can learn a lot."
