Haas boss Guenther Steiner admits that his team must stop giving away points following disappointing weekend at Silverstone.

On Sunday, both of Haas' drivers, Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen collided in the first-lap of the British Grand Prix.

Grosjean made contact with Magnussen's car, which as a result dropped them both well down the grid and left Magnussen's car with floor damage that had a big impact on the rest of his race.

Magnussen did recover to finish in ninth place, aided by the two safety car periods.

However, Grosjean had to retire following another collision, this time with Renault's Carlos Sainz Jr.

Steiner did say in the build-up to the race, that the two cars have the power to finish in sixth and seventh place, but had to settle with just the two points after the first-lap calamity.

"I'm not happy," Steiner told Autosport when asked about the first-lap collision.

"We are (often) in the points now, but we lose them. We do it ourselves.

"Last year we needed to get in the points, this year we need to stop falling out of the points.

"The guys behind us (in the constructors' championship) closed up and the guys ahead got further away.

"It's just always hard work, we should be putting our hard work into scoring points instead of getting up again.

"We should be trying to hit high but we are using a lot of energy just to get out of the dumps - always chasing, instead of trying to move ahead."
