MP Motorsport has made an impactful move for 2023. With Dennis Hauger, it brings in a Red Bull-trained talent with Italian Formula 4 and Formula 3 championships already behind his name.

Hauger to Dutch team

Hauger is considered one of the great talents from the Red Bull training programme. The 19-year-old Norwegian won the prestigious Italian Formula 4 championship on behalf of Van Amersfoort Racing in 2019 and in 2021 he won the Formula 3 championship with Prema Racing. In 2023, he will compete for Dutch MP Motorsport after one F2 season with Prema.

''I am really excited about joining MP Motorsport for another assault on the FIA Formula 2 Championship”, said Hauger. “MP have been the revelation of this season, consistently producing a great car for every round of the season. We have recognised that, and it’s wonderful news that we have been able to make the deal work. I’m looking forward to working with the team starting at the Abu Dhabi test, which I hope will be our jump start to a very successful 2023 season.''

"We are absolutely delighted that someone of Dennis’ calibre will be part of our Formula 2 programme in 2023”, said MP’s team principal Sander Dorsman. “His 2021 Formula 3 title year is still fresh on my mind – he made no prisoners and was truly outstanding. With the knowledge and experience that he has gained in his F2 rookie season, I’m positive that he will translate those into consistent pace-setting form and more results like the ones he produced at Monaco and Baku this year."

MP Motorsport impresses

MP Motorsport is having a great F2 season in 2022, with the drivers' title for Felipe Drugovich already under its belt and still a good chance of winning the constructors' title. With only the final race in Abu Dhabi ahead, the Dutch team is level with ART (281 points). Carlin also still has a chance of that title with a 23-point deficit.

Hauger himself came into action for Prema in Formula 2 in 2022, but had a difficult debut year so far. The F3 champion won the sprint race in Monaco and the main race in Azerbaijan, but otherwise had a shaky year and is in 11th place in the championship.
