Red Bull Racing has been found guilty by the FIA for violating the budget cap. It ensures that the Austrian formation will soon face a penalty, which it can appeal. Martin Brundle is following the situation with particular interest, he told Sky Sports.

As the budget cap has not been in place for long, Brundle also finds it difficult to assess what Red Bull is facing. What the former Formula 1 driver does know is that the FIA has an important task ahead of it, because it is going to say a lot about the future of Formula 1.

"I am assuming the FIA will have to crack down hard on any minor breaches but it looks like it could be reprimand, or a fine," Brundle noted. "Other teams are saying this gives you a head start into 2022, the cars are carried over for 2023."

"Horner told me it was an interpretation issue on a number of items they thought they were under and some things have been included now. It doesn't appear to be the great crime we were being told by other team principals in Singapore, we now await the news."

Brundle surprised at news leaks

Brundle is surprised that the news about Red Bull and Aston Martin making a mistake in the procedures came out earlier than the FIA intended. According to him, it is therefore necessary to find out how this happened.
