Williams technical chief Paddy Lowe is determined that him and his team has not given up on this season yet.

Williams have had a terrible opening to the 2018 season, and this was shown at the Canadian GP, where Williams were the slowest team.

Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin qualified in 17th and 18th place, until the former crashed out of the race in the opening lap, and the latter finished 17th and last.

Lowe ensured to Motorsport.com that they are still working very hard on their FW41 car.

"We're already working on next year in parallel, but we absolutely have not given up on this year," Lowe ensured.

"We are doing a lot of work back at base, some very significant work, it's just not yet appeared on the car.

"The season is still early, and we are absolutely not giving up on it.

"Some things we've been chipping away at, and there are other things that are more major, that take a long time.

"We are not naming dates, but we hope to make some good progress before the (summer) showdown."

Claire Williams, deputy team principal of Williams, last week confirmed that there is a 'recovery plan' in place for the side.
