Gasly has message for AlphaTauri: 'That's what I want'

Pierre Gasly hopes to succeed Fernando Alonso at Alpine next season. AlphaTauri seems willing to terminate his contract, which runs until the end of 2023, but to do so it wants to be able to attract a good replacement. For now, this leaves Gasly in a wait-and-see mode, he told Sky Sports.
The Frenchman realises better than anyone that he owes a lot to his current team in his Formula 1 career, which is why he has decided to be understanding. It seems to be a major reason that AlphaTauri, for its part, is working hard to make the switch possible.
"At the moment this is out of my control. It doesn't mean I'm going to stay there all my life because my ambitions in Formula 1 are to fight at the front, and that's what I want," revealed Gasly, who went on to state that he will always do his best for AlphaTauri. "Then I'll give my 110 per cent to this team."

Alpine opts for French duo

Should Gasly come under contract with Alpine, the French-based racing stable will have two French drivers in its ranks. Esteban Ocon has been part of the formation since the start of 2021 and is eighth in the world championship this year.
