The youngest of the Formula 3 title contenders got off to the best start to the race weekend in Italy. Oliver Bearman and Isack Hadjar finished on top in the first and only practice session for F3 at the Monza circuit.

Climax of the F3 season

The F3 season comes to a close in Italy with the final race of the season. Seven drivers still have a chance to win the prestigious title with 39 points to be earned in the final sprint race and main race of this season. On Friday morning the practice session took place and the youngest drivers of the title contenders seem to be in the best position.

Bearman was the fastest on behalf of Prema on the Monza circuit. The seventeen year old driver, who rides for the Italian team, has 21 points behind the leader and has some catching up to do this weekend. Victor Martins, the leader in the championship, came four tenths short of Bearman's fastest time in practice.

Hadjar in form

Hadjar made the best impression. The seventeen-year-old Red Bull talent was second in the practice session and only needs to make up five points on Martins to take the title this weekend. Hadjar came less than a tenth short of Bearman's time. Arthur Leclerc, Bearman's teammate and number six in the championship, ended the session in third place.

The other title contenders had a worse Friday morning. Roman Stanek is third in the championship, but lost a second to Bearman and ended the practice in fourteenth place. Zane Maloney had an even worse practice, with a twentieth place at 1.8s from the leader. Jak Crawford, the number seven in the championship, ended the session six tenths from the leader in tenth place.
