After the Belgian Grand Prix did not bring Mercedes what it had hoped for, Toto Wolff focuses on the upcoming race in Zandvoort. The team boss calls the GP at Spa-Francorchamps a 'wake-up call' from which many lessons can be learned.

"Belgium was a challenging weekend for us as a Team, but those weekends are the ones that really fire you up and make you dig deeper," Wolff explained in a Mercedes press release. "There were such big extremes across the weekend; from the pace differences on Saturday and Sunday, to the difficult first lap for Lewis and George's late charge for a podium."

Wolff hopes to learn lessons from Spa

According to the team boss, Mercedes has worked hard to understand the problems. "Thankfully we don't have long to wait until we can bring utilise and maximise those learnings," the Austrian continued. "What will make the difference for the rest of this season is how quickly and effectively we can continue learning, to deliver our best performance this year and next."

Wolff is eagerly looking forward to the GP of the Netherlands. "It was a real party atmosphere last year," he continues. The Mercedes boss calls Circuit Zandvoort an interesting circuit with a lot of character due to its twisty layout and the kombocht, which will become part of the second DRS zone from this weekend. "So, we're excited to be back there and to take on the circuit's challenges with this year's car," Wolff said.
