George Russell has overtaken his team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the qualifying duel between them, thanks to securing pole position in Hungary. The talent has been faster than Hamilton seven times this season, while the seven-time world champion achieved this six times. However, there are more drivers who did good things.

Although Max Verstappen is far from satisfied with his P10, he was again faster than Sergio Perez. The difference with the Mexican was 10-3 in favour of Verstappen. Carlos Sainz was able to catch up with Charles Leclerc, but with a difference of seven points he is still far behind.

Lando Norris was for the eleventh time faster than Daniel Ricciardo who is not having a good year. Esteban Ocon was again surprisingly faster than Fernando Alonso, while Yuki Tsunoda made up some ground on Pierre Gasly. Guanyu Zhou, Mick Schumacher and Nicholas Latifi are also still well behind their teammates.
