Daniel Ricciardo has been a key feature in many people's silly season predictions over the last couple of weeks and another struggle in today's qualifying session for the French Grand Prix won't have helped his case. The Australian will start from the ninth spot on the grid tomorrow, after penalties for Carlos Sainz and Kevin Magnussen, and is hopeful to move up and score some strong points, alongside his teammate Lando Norris.

"I'll take some freebies but it's tricky. I'm still just pushing on it and getting what I want out of it," he told Sky Sports, "a few corners were messy because I was trying to get the best out of it but it's still frustrating to be out of Q3. We will keep working."

The Australian went on to state how important tyre management will be in order to succeed tomorrow, but also highlighted the growth within the team as a strong point, "it will be about tyre management tomorrow This circuit is demanding on the tyres, so if we can do that well, we can be good in the race. I think we have made progress in understanding the new package."
