At McLaren, they had no doubt hoped for more at the Canadian Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo finished just outside the points in P11, while it was not the weekend for Lando Norris either with a disappointing fifteenth place finish. Team boss Andreas Seidl agrees that the Woking-based racing team would like to forget the past weekend quickly.

"A very disappointing Sunday afternoon for us here in Montreal," Seidl told McLaren's press release. "It's been a tough weekend in general, with the car lacking pace, having reliability issues and suffering an operational issue."

Pit stop failed

During the virtual safety car, McLaren decided to bring in both Ricciardo and Norris. However, there were only tyres for the former and so Norris was stuck in the pit lane for an incredibly long time. It made him chanceless for a spot in the top-ten. Seidl indicates that McLaren will analyze the situation internally to make sure it doesn't happen again later in the season.

The German top man goes on to say that there is nothing to do but admit that the competition did better at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit. "Therefore we didn't deserve points today. We didn't give Lando or Daniel the package they deserved today, so we have to offer them an apology. We also have to use this as an opportunity to learn, and come back stronger in two weeks for our home race at Silverstone," Seidl said.
