Charles Leclerc drove from P19 to P5 during the Canadian Grand Prix. With that, the Ferrari driver limited the damage in the championship, but the race was frustrating for the Monegasque.

Leclerc's engine was beyond saving after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The team phased out the drivetrain components of Leclerc's F1-75, forcing him to start from nineteenth place on Sunday (Yuki Tsunoda also started behind him due to grid penalties). Max Verstappen 's rival eventually managed to fight back to P5 with the help of good tactics during the safety car.

Leclerc makes visible effort to stay positive

Leclerc was doing damage control, but despite that did not sound enthusiastic after Sunday's race. In front of Viaplay's camera he said, "At the end it was better, but at the beginning of the race I was stuck in DRS trains. When the two or three cars in front of you all have DRS, you can't do anything at all. I was just waiting and that was very frustrating."

Leclerc does recognize that P5 was the best he could get in Montreal after his grid penalties. The Monegasque is visibly struggling to stay positive, but does say he is heading to the next race in Britain with fresh courage. At Silverstone, the battle with Red Bull Racing will continue. Both teams think of each other that major upgrades are on the way. Christian Horner said that about Ferrari and Mattia Binotto about Red Bull Racing.
