Mattia Binotto revealed earlier this week that
Ferrari will travel to Barcelona with a new package of updates for the
Spanish Grand Prix. In addition, the F1-75 will also be a few kilos lighter.
 The Italian branch of
Motorsport.com reports that
Ferrari will scrap paint from the car to reduce weight. Removing the paint could yield a weight loss of 700 grams, reaching the planned three kilograms.
The Ferrari already has the lightest paint on the grid, but the team can save even more weight by removing the clear paint that gives the red car a sheen. Since the introduction of the new regulations, teams have been doing everything they can to comply with the rules around weight, often going to extremes. For example,
Williams also previously scraped paint off the car to save weight.
The Red Bull of
Max Verstappen and
Sergio Perez will also be a few kilograms lighter in Barcelona. The new parts of the RB18 would make the car about three to five kilograms lighter.
