Max Verstappen got away well at the start of the Grand Prix of Imola. The Dutchman managed to maintain his pole position. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, sank further back, teammate Carlos Sainz having another dramatic start.

Verstappen had no problems at the start and could easily stay ahead of the cars behind him. Leclerc on the other hand did not get away well from P2 and will now have to continue from P4.

Sergio Perez had an excellent start just like Verstappen. The Mexican managed to overtake Leclerc for P2. A crazy start for the Red Bull Racing team. George Russell is also doing good business, as the Brit is currently driving in sixth place. Lewis Hamilton is still outside the points.

Bad luck again for Sainz

For Sainz, the start of the race was again dramatic. After his retirement in Australia, he was hit by Daniel Ricciardo in Imola. The Spaniard is immediately out of the race, so all hope lies with Leclerc for the home race of Ferrari. Ricciardo was able to continue the race. The race is temporarily continued behind the safety car.
