Eyes were not only on the circuit in Saudi Arabia in recent days. On Friday, a large fire less than ten miles away from the circuit was also closely watched. That rocket attack caused teams and drivers to spend hours discussing the safety of the F1 paddock after the second free practice.

The team bosses at the time were quick to agree, with the verdict that it was safe to race. With the drivers, things were a lot less easy. Several hours were spent in consultation with all the drivers, discussing whether the drivers were comfortable with racing. Team bosses and the F1 management also joined in after a while to take a look and give extra explanations.

Drivers have clear doubts

In the end the drivers were convinced to go racing this weekend, but still the attack has left its mark. At Sky Sports they report that the drivers have already made an appointment with the F1 management to discuss the concerns of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

The F1 organization is said to have promised that more will be looked into what happened and that they won't just move on to the next race without taking a good look at the events in Jeddah. In Jeddah, Hamilton already indicated that he was not comfortable and explained to other drivers that they expect clarity from the FIA on safety and that now seems to be coming.
