AlphaTauri scored no points in Qatar with both cars, despite Pierre Gasly starting from the front row of the grid. Rival Alpine F1 scored big points and gained big on Red Bull's sister. Gasly feels the situation has become more difficult.

Gasly to Hamilton

Alpine has a 25 point lead over AlphaTauri, partly due to Fernando Alonso's amazing podium. With only two races left in the season, it will be hard to erase this lead. But it's not over yet, because Gasly has already shown that he can take a podium this season.

The situation has totally changed since Qatar. Speedweek quotes the Frenchman: "Unfortunately, the situation in the title fight is more complicated now because Alpine had a good weekend in Qatar. It was great to be back at the front though. It was the first time since my participation in Super Formula in Japan in 2017. To be on the grid next to Lewis Hamilton, who was on pole, is very cool. I hope there will be more successes like that in the future."

Battle with Alpine

On the Jeddah Corniche circuit, Gasly expects to have a hard time. It is an extremely fast track with a smooth tarmac, and there is no relevant data available yet. Gasly: "We did show in Qatar that we can adapt quickly, in fact we were right there on Friday." Gasly finishes: "Although we need to work hard to be fast enough over one lap, we also need to look at the pace over a longer distance to find the right set-up for qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday."
