Championship contender Jorge Martin looked visibly shaken after a big crash during this morning's FP1 session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The Spanish rider went down at Turn 10 and hit his own bike after it ploughed into the air fence, appearing to injure his left arm in the process.
Martin, who is only returning this year from a series of brutal injuries in 2025, has made a great start to the season so far, picking up consistent podiums and multiple sprint victories before winning his first Sunday race for Aprilia in Le Mans last weekend.
'The Martinator' started the session well and was putting in consistently fast lap times, topping the timing charts ahead of teammate and title rival Marco Bezzecchi. However, following the crash, Martin was forced to withdraw from the remainder of the session.
What was most concerning about the crash, on top of the way Martin was seen walking unsteadily away from the barriers in a manner which suggested he might have sustained a concussion, was the fact that he repeatedly held onto his left arm and appeared to have lost full mobility.
The number 89 was quickly taken back to his motorhome in the paddock for a medical checkup and we await further updates regarding his condition.
