F1 LIVE | Qualifying for the 2022 Australian Grand Prix

The Australian Grand Prix promises to be another exciting battle between Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. In qualifying, it will become clear who has the fastest car this weekend. Ferrari has been strong so far on the Albert Park circuit, but Max Verstappen is close on their heels.

For the third weekend in a row, Red Bull and Ferrari are the big favorites for qualifying in Australia. During the free practice sessions, Ferrari in particular made a good impression, but the team did suffer from a lot of porpoising. It looks like Red Bull will be able to compete with their Italian rivals mainly in the long runs, but who knows, Verstappen and Sergio Perez might still be able to get involved in the fight for pole position.

On Friday, Mercedes suffered from porpoising and the team struggled to find grip on the new asphalt. The tyres of the W13 did not get hot enough, but the team worked all evening to find a solution. After a mediocre start on Friday, Mercedes is therefore hoping to bounce back during qualifying, especially after Lewis Hamilton's dramatic P16 in Saudi Arabia.

For Sebastian Vettel it will be an exciting session as, after his coronavirus infection, the German is driving his first qualifying session of the season. Daniel Ricciardo will also want to impress at his home circuit.
