F1 LIVE | Sprint Qualifying of the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix
Sprint Qualifying will begin at 20:30 local time at the Lusail Circuit in Qatar, which correlates to 17:30 GMT for UK fans and 18:30 CET for European fans.
Sprint qualifying will determine the positions for Saturday's 19-lap sprint race around the Lusail circuit. This weekend, there are a maximum of 33 points on offer, which is crucial in the championship, as Norris leads Verstappen and Piastri by 24 points.
Piastri has won the Qatar sprint race two years in a row, and will be looking to do so again this weekend, especially now that the Australian is fighting for the championship against teammate, Norris. On the other hand,
Max Verstappen won the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix over 57 laps, and will also be hoping to outscore Norris and Piastri, as the Dutchman attempts to claw back more points to stay in contention.
Verstappen and Piastri will therefore both be hoping to gain on Norris in the championship this weekend, with the Sprint race itself holding a maximum of eight points, they will need to have a good result here in Sprint Qualifying in order to have a shot at beating Norris and subsequently staying within a mathematical chance of the title.
As things stand in the F1 drivers' standings
| Standings | Drivers | Points |
| P1 | Lando Norris | 390 |
| P2 | Oscar Piastri | 366 |
| P3 | Max Verstappen | 366 |
