Norris claims pole position in Las Vegas
After the Mexico City and Sao Paulo Grands Prix, championship leader Norris secured pole position for the third time in a row in 'Sin City'. Verstappen finished in second place, setting a lap time about three tenths slower than the McLaren driver, and
will complete the front row of the grid.
The third championship contender,
Oscar Piastri, set the fifth quickest time in qualifying, finishing behind Carlos Sainz and
George Russell as well.
Ferrari had another difficult qualifying session.
Charles Leclerc finished ninth, while
Lewis Hamilton was already eliminated in Q1, after the seven-time world champion finished 20th..
Yuki Tsunoda was once again eliminated early on. After the session,
Red Bull team boss Laurent Mekies explained that the Japanese driver's Q1 exit was the team's mistake.

The championship battle heading into the Las Vegas GP
Ahead of the Las Vegas GP, Norris leads his teammate Piastri by 24 points, and Verstappen by 49 points in the standings.
Should the Briton outscore the Red Bull Racing driver by 10 points or more, Verstappen would be mathematically eliminated from the title battle.
