An F2 title is not a sure path to Formula 1. While Gabriel Bortoleto was promoted to F1 this season as the titleholder, others like Felipe Drugovich and Theo Pourchaire were less fortunate. So many factors determine whether that opportunity comes, and not everything is within a driver's control. Verschoor is no exception.
The only thing the driver for MP Motorsport can do is continue to perform well. “The better you do in Formula 2, the more you stand in the spotlight. And ultimately, my goal, of course, is to move up or find a great career somewhere,” he explains during an exclusive interview with GPblog.
Verschoor doesn't want to look too far ahead
“I think that's the goal for every driver. And for that, you simply have to deliver certain performances. Show that you can be consistent, that you can win races. So yes, that's a goal. But in the end, it doesn't help me to look to the future now. I just need to perform, do my best and enjoy it as long as possible. And then it will come naturally,” says the Dutchman.
In any case, Formula 2 is a great platform for drivers to showcase themselves. “Yes, and also all the tracks you race on. You gain a lot of experience, including with teams like [MP Motorsport] where you dive deep into the data. I think you're active at one of the highest levels here next to Formula 1. And for my experience, what I ever do, I think that's very good.”
