Toto Wolff left Azerbaijan for Canada with a happy feeling. The team boss of the reigning world champion hopes to take another step forward at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit and narrow the gap with the other two top teams.
"Baku was a tricky weekend for us, particularly with the bouncing issues, but we really maximised the opportunities that came our way and left Azerbaijan with a solid collection of points," Wolff said in Mercedes' preview. The German formation benefited from bad luck in others. "Reliability is an important factor in Formula One and there's no shortage of hard work at Brackley and Brixworth behind getting both cars to the finish line."

Wolff enjoys Mercedes team's commitment

Mercedes seems to be in a bit of a no man's land at the moment. Red Bull and Ferrari are simply too fast, but the gap to midfield has widened in recent weeks. "We're working flat out to close that gap. But with an underperforming package, I loved seeing the fight in the team to pull together and get us the best result possible with the tools at hand. That spirit will bring us back competing at the front," he says.
Next weekend, the race will be held in Montreal. The last time the Formula One circus descended there was in 2019. Wolff is looking forward to the race and says he hopes the Canadian fans are still as passionate as they were three years ago. Mercedes hopes to take a step forward and present its fans with a great weekend.
