Toto Wolff saw no issue with Russell Verstappen battle

Despite a good start for Geroge Russell and the Mercedes, which saw him run in third before the safety car restart, it will be a little bit disappointing for Toto Wolff and the rest of the silver arrows, as on the safety car restart, Russell was jumped by Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton by Carlos Sainz.

Focussing on the first lap incident between Russell and Verstappen which saw the Brit overtake the reigning world champion after contact between the two, here is how Wolff responded to ORF afterwards: "He's been on the outside, so, of course, you stay over, but he knows that well anyway."

"They've known each other for 15 years, they've driven karts together, they know each other very well. If you're on the outside, there's a chance you'll get pushed out. That's what happened then," as the Austrian makes it very clear he sees nothing wrong with this driver's manoeuvre.
