During the press conference after the Bahrain Grand Prix, the heavy crash of Romain Grosjean in the first lap of the race was of course extensively discussed. However, the idea put forward to allow drivers to withdraw during major accidents doesn't get the approval of Max Verstappen.
“I don’t get why you wouldn’t race. If I would be the team boss I would kick him out of the seat," Verstappen does not hide his opinion. “If the guy wouldn’t race, if I would be the team boss, I would tell him ‘then you never sit in the seat again'," he is quoted by Racefans.net.
Lewis Hamilton is also taking a stance on the issue. "We’re not the safety regulators. We’re here to do a job and we rely on the FIA who are aware of safety and we trust them implicitly. So no, I don’t think so.”
