Rinus van Kalmthout was injured during a training ride on his bike after the past IndyCar weekend. The Dutchman fell and sustained a collarbone injury. No further 'damage' was noted to the driver from Hoofddorp.
Veekay is currently being treated by the IndyCar medical staff. It seems that Van Kalmthout escaped with the scare on Monday. However, it remains to be seen whether VeeKay will be able to participate in the IndyCar race at Road America next weekend. It is possible that he will have to let this race pass him by.
The Dutchman is doing very well this season. While the 20-year old driver took victory at the Indianapolis circuit, he finished second last weekend. Van Kalmthout only had to let Marcus Ericsson pass him, which puts him in fifth place in the world championship with 243 points. Leader Patricio O'Ward has so far captured 299 points.
