Russell can't believe it: "We're within a tenth of Ferrari!"

George Russell experienced his best qualifying from his still short Formula 1 career in the wet Red Bull Ring. The 12th place isn't just a boost for himself and Williams, it also means he'll be starting from right behind the Ferraris tomorrow.

"It's unbelievable," he says afterwards in front of the camera of Sky Sports F1. "It was great to drive like this. I gave everything I had. If someone had said that we would be within a tenth of the Ferraris towards Q3, I would never have believed that. I'm also happy for everyone who is working on these cars. It does not show the true speed of the car, but it gives a boost to the team".

With his 12th place he really surpassed the level of his car. Nicholas Latifi, who also did not do badly, didn't make it past 18th place. During the race he will probably need rain again to turn this nice position into points.
