Red Bull let juniors leave F2: 'Iwasa finds new home'

Ayumu Iwasa is facing a return to his native Japan. Various media in the Asian country report that the Red Bull Junior will be active in Super Formula next season. In this class, Liam Lawson, reserve driver at Red Bull Racing and briefly super sub at AlphaTauri, is currently causing a furore. The New Zealander may even yet take the title in Asia's premier racing series.

Iwasa is a Honda protégée and currently active in Formula 2. Last weekend, Helmut Marko (Red Bull Racing's external advisor) announced at Viaplay in Poland that only two Red Bull juniors will be active in F2 next season. They will be Isack Hadjar (currently active in this class) and newcomer Pepe Marti. This Spanish talent is coached by Fernando Alonso. According to rumours, they will drive for Campos Racing.

Dennis Hauger already announced his own departure from the Red Bull Junior Team on Sunday. Stories are also circulating about Zane Maloney and Enzo Fittipaldi that Red Bull is parting ways with them. Maloney is testing Andretti's Formula E car at the winter tests in Valencia this week. Little is yet known about Jak Crawford, while Iwasa thus appears to be moving to Japan. It is likely that the Japanese will remain attached to the Red Bull Academy.

At the end of this year, he is likely to test a Super Formula car as early as Suzuka. Former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat is also likely to be a tester.
